The Speech

I think we are all aware of the speech Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered 50 years ago today. I’m still amazed not only at his vision for America but his oratory prowess.  In light of this anniversary, here are a few links:

David Mathias and  Al Mohler helpfully comment on King’s legacy and trajectory.

Some might not be aware that King was a scholar. He had a PhD in theology from Boston University. Here is an interesting audio discussion of his beliefs.

Finally, here is the speech. Notice how he warms up during the delivery. According to the piece by Mohler, the “I have a dream” portion of the speech wasn’t in his manuscript. I think this is evident given he doesn’t use his heavily relied on notes (something I do) during this part of the speech.
