Should we skip over the genealogies? As tempting as it might be, this short piece reminds us that there are treasures to be mined from these seemingly inconsequential sections.

I often hear that God would never coerce love because, in the end, this wouldn’t be love. I’m often troubled by this line of reasoning first, because it is a human line of reasoning. To me it is a slippery slope. What else might be jettisoned because it doesn’t fit with human reasoning? Second, and more important, this isn’t what Calvinist teach. It is a straw man. Kevin DeYoung reminds us of this reality.
