Stephen Altrogge has a helpful piece entitle “Vote Doofus! (Amidst The Slinging And Sarcasm, Don’t Forget This…).” At this election season, it is good to “hear” what he writes. Here is his concluding paragraph:

And remember, no matter who gets elected, God is in control. He’s sovereign over governments, nations and history.  God is sovereign even over the hearts of wicked leaders.  ”The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will” (Proverbs 21:1). God can change and direct the heart of the most evil ruler.  So discuss, debate, be informed, but don’t panic. And honor our leaders.

I know that many struggle with the dark cloud of depression. If this is you, I’d encourage you to read this short post by Mike Leake entitled When Your Depression is Calling. Here is a taste of what he has to say:

When you begin to think in this fashion your guilt feelings start to drop away. You can begin to understand that what is happening is part of God’s plan for you—and so your depression is not a punishment from God. You are actually where God wants you to be, even if it is emotionally painful. To put it another way, if God wants you to go through this it would be wrong for you to avoid it, wouldn’t it?

The Art of Neighboring: Building Genuine Relationships Right Outside your Door is free today for Nook and Kindle. It looks good.

This is almost unbelievable (the NFL record is 63 yards):
